Hi everyone, my name is Mary Selvidge. I have been playing and writing music since I was sixteen years old. I never thought I would have the nerve to climb on stage and sing in front of an audience, but with the good Lord's help I've been able to live my dream. I entered a singing contest called the Colgate Country Showdown, sponsored by my local radio station, WDWG 98.5 "The Big Dawg". This competition starts each spring with over 450 local talent contests sponsored by country music radio stations throughout the United States. In August, I won the North Carolina Eastern Regional finals and advanced to the North Carolina & South Carolina state finals in Williamston, North Carolina. On September 29th I was named the proud winner of the Colgate Country Showdown state finals. And on November 17th I placed 2nd in the United States Southeast Regionals in Thomaston, Georgia.

I play several instruments and write my own songs, which is a wonderful outlet after a hard days work. With the support of my family, friends and co-workers, I have been able to strive toward my dreams and realize that good things do happen to those who wait.
